In collaboration with product lead engineers, product safety, and management, the candidate will act as a resource to insure compliance to relevant industry standards for Genie and AWP division applications. The candidate will review specifications, designs, and products during NPD and Product Improvement activities for compliance to relevant standards for current and emerging markets. Additional responsibilities include: • Act as a resource to insure compliance to relevant industry standards for Genie and AWP division applications. In collaboration with design engineering and product management the candidate will review specifications, designs, and products during NPD and Product Improvement activities for compliance to relevant standards for current and emerging markets. • Act as internal consultant to engineering on industry standards relevant to Genie and AWP division product lines (booms, scissors, telehandlers, generators, light towers, and trailers). Standards include: European Machinery Directive, EN280, ANSI A92, CSA B354, AS1482, UL, FMVSS, Russian, Chinese, and other developing markets. • Stay current on global/regional standards and regulations. Proactively, ensure that product lines meet requirements. • Develop relationship with industry standards consultants. (ex; PAC, IPAF, FEM, FMRC, etc) • Coordinate consultant visits and handle invoicing and communication. • Active participation on standards committee meetings held in North America, Europe, and other parts of the world. • Frequent international and domestic travel can be expected. • Write summary reports on standards activity and present information to engineering and management. • Work with product management on standards compliance within developing markets and/or new product lines. • Participate in design reviews and product testing to insure standards compliance. Write test reports and conclusions • Mechanical Engineer (BSME) • 8 to 10 years industry experience. • Thorough understanding of industry standards relevant to Genie and AWP division product lines. Including Machinery Directive, EN280 and all standards referenced within EN280, ANSI 92.5, CSA B354, AS1482, Russian, Chinese, and other developing markets. • Product Knowledge: Working knowledge of the fundamentals of mobile equipment design, structural design, and normal design convention. Requires instrumentation & testing familiarity. • Initiative/Results Orientation: Resourceful and good working knowledge of machine design. Competent in project planning and execution. • Analytical Skills: Responsible for engine functional performance evaluation (testing). Demonstrated ability to properly run root cause analysis. • Innovation/Problem Solving: Demonstrates creative approaches to design & technology. Research used to keep up to date on new developments. • Customer Focus: Proactively identifies customer requirements and promptly responds to customer needs. Takes reasonable risks in satisfying customer needs. • Communication/ Influence: Ability to effectively communicate to all levels in the company (from shop floor to top management). Speaks and writes clearly, logically and to the point. Listens attentively to others. Builds and maintains relationships. Use of influence to accomplish goals will be frequent. • Teamwork: Supports team members. Solicits diverse participation in decision-making and supports consensus decisions. Builds collaboration among individuals and works to achieve group goals/outcomes. • Planning and Organization: Apply effective organizational skills to a diverse and varied project load.
