Payroll Supervisor
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:This position is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the payroll department including analysis, auditing, reconciliation and resolution of complex payroll processing. Plans and directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies. Establishes and modifies operational procedures. Maintains up to date accurate documentation and reports to reflect payroll activities. Develops programs and procedures for the training of assigned personnel. Provides leadership and directs the daily operation of the Payroll department by prioritizing and scheduling work assignments. Analyzes, audits, reconciles and resolves complex payroll processing and employee payroll issues to ensuresaccurate payroll processing; responds to auditing and regulatory inquiries. Ensures payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles. Participates in the selection, retention and development of personnel including interviewing, performance appraisals and promotion recommendations. Develops programs and procedures for the training of personnel. Develop and Maintain Payroll policies and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient time reporting. Responsible for reconciling bi-weekly payroll. Responsible for reconciling general ledger in regards to payroll accounts. Responsible for acting as payroll liaison between Human resources, Accounting, Corporate, Management, and any other department as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Typically requires education/formal training equivalent to the completion of a Bachelors degree and six or more years of progressively complex experience in payroll supervision. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education. Must demonstrate a strong working knowledge and understanding of payroll principles, concepts, theories, regulations and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines and milestones. Must posses (1) the ability to resolve complex issues; (2) strong verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report and present findings; (3) strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, including providing direction to and scheduling work of assigned staff, management and outside representatives; (4) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; (5) strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Excel. Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
