Plant Protection Technician

This description covers the duties of a Plant Protection Technician (PPT) at the Columbus, Georgia facility. Our Officers are on duty or on call 24/7 to respond for the protection of the employees and facility. The basic duties of the officers are to prevent situations from arising or to remedy problems in their incipient stages. The mission of the officers is to inspect, recommend and repair equipment that is used in the protection of the plant. The Pratt & Whitney Officers maintain the goals, objectives and initiatives (`9 for the security and fire protection of the facility. Their duties include but are not limited to the following:

(a2 Act as a company liaison (contractor coordinator) with contractors/vendors to assure they perform their duties with regards to the policies and procedures of P&W. Develop and manage scope of work for Plant Protection Department projects.
(a2 Oversee and coordinate daily operations of Contract Security staff. Monitor the development and performance of the Contract Security staff to provide feedback for skill improvements and implementation of the company's ACE (Continuous Improvement) program for suppliers.
(a2 Provide support services with other departments as they evolve to facilitate the success of the department (`9s mission.
(a2 Plan and coordinate projects based on department and company needs.
(a2 Maintain liaison with outside agencies and their representatives regarding Liability Insurance, NFPA, local, state and federal regulations, developing long term associations and enabling the facility to operate with minimal outside agency oversight.
(a2 Assist in budgetary planning and monitor expenditures.
(a2 Develop positive relationships with employees.
(a2 Maintain emergency skills to use in the event of a significant event to provide resolution with the minimal impact to life safety or damage at the facility and in the community. These include CPR, 1st Aid, Haz Mat, fire fighting, confined space rescue, work place violence intervention, etc.
(a2 Support ACE, OSHA, NFPA, EPA, ISO initiatives for the Facilities & Services (F&S) organization.
(a2 Develop, and maintain advance job skills based on long term experience, training and tenure. These include NIMS, incident command, maintenance, SAP (time keeping system), ACE, etc.
(a2 Utilize preventive maintenance skills to keep fire, security and other systems operational.
(a2 Coordinate SAP implementation, monitoring, and data collection for Plant Protection Department assignments. Assist as a SAP backup for other F&S functions.
(a2 Perform as assigned by department management based on changing needs.

Education
(a2 High School graduate or GED required.
(a2 Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
