Power and Water Supervisor (2008-2009)
LOCATION: CENTENNIAL, CO 80015 Power & Water Supervisor 08-09 Raytheon Polar Services - Experience Antarctica Seeking a unique adventure as well as employment? Raytheon Polar Services is the primary contractor for the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) U.S. Antarctic Program. We are currently seeking Power and Water Supervisors to deploy to McMurdo, South Pole or Palmer research stations on a contract basis beginning in approximately August of 2008. There are three lengths for the contracts: Summer-(Approximately) August or October through February, Winter-(Approximately) February through October, and Year-Long-(Approximately) October through October. We are looking for Primary and Alternate employees to fill all contract positions. The Primary is first in line for the position. The Alternate is next in line to deploy should the Primary be unable to meet deployment requirements. The Power and Water Supervisor is responsible for operation, preventive maintenance and repair of main Power Plant generators, backup emergency generators, on-site high voltage switchgear systems, sea water desalinization and treatment system and the activated sludge waste water treatment plant. Initiates and closes Work Orders, establishes priorities and delegates assigned tasks. The Power and Water Supervisor ensures, to the best possible standards, uninterrupted high voltage electrical service, water supply, and proper operation of the waste water treatment plant. Required Experience · A minimum of two years supervisory experience in operation and maintenance of diesel engine power plants, desalination plants and associated equipment, or waste water treatment plants. · Bachelor’s degree is required (related power plant experience will be accepted in lieu of degree). Preferred Experience · State issued licenses in water plants and waste water treatment plants is preferred. · High skill level with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel are preferred. Additional Polar Information All contract positions include competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. For the time you are in Antarctica compensation also includes travel to and from the ice, room & board, and you are eligible for a performance-based bonus upon successful completion of your contract. FYI – Only authorized personnel are allowed on station and you need to remain on station for the duration of your contract except in case of emergency.
