Bring your talent and skills to the following IDS group: The Software Engineering Directorate (SED) is the central focus for real-time software development, integration, test and validation activities for these systems within IDS. We provide engineering design processes, standards and test expertise to Raytheon's current programs, along with new system technology development. There is a current need for a Principal Software Configuration Engineer at the Expeditionary Warfare Center in San Diego, CA. Job Description: This position requires a strong working knowledge of software development processes, compilers, linkers, operating systems, and tools used to maintain software configuration management. Work with software engineers, engineering leadership, and software configuration management peers on program configuration management tasks, including; the planning of configuration management for new programs by developing Basis of Estimates (BOE) and Estimates to Complete (ETC) for Software Configuration Management (SCM) tasks. Develop and maintain SCM Plans and maintain work instructions. Plan, and implement ClearCase environments for new programs and maintain and improve existing programs. The applicant must be able to write tool scripts (C-shell, Perl, etc.) that automate SCM processes, (i.e., perform software builds using developer source code, gather metrics, etc.). Provide daily analysis of nightly builds, identify build problems and recommend resolution options. Develop and conduct training for configuration management tools and change management. Process software change requests and represent SCM on change control boards. Support and maintain development and test environments in the areas of tool upgrades and application deployment. Develop and maintain software release documentation and customer delivery records. Provide various general data; software line code counts, metrics, status accounting and baseline audits. Participate in various audits, internal and external (ISSO, CMMI). Participate as a member of the software development team and represent a broad spectrum of configuration management which may include other engineering disciplines and subcontractors. Build, document and release software products to internal and external testing sites and customers. Participate in the review of other programs and suggest improvements to tools and processes. Implement Six Sigma principals in all facets of the work environment. Perform with limited supervision using knowledge in Military, CMMI and ISSO standards as they pertain to software development and configuration management. Required Education: Minimum of a B.A./B.S Degree in Computer Science, Math or Engineering or a related engineering field with relevant professional experience. Basic Qualifications: * Minimum 8 years experience * Minimum 5 years experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Access/Project) * Minimum 5 years experience using Rational ClearCase Configuration Management Tools or equivalent configuration management tools * Experience administering Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest applications * Experience generating executable code, writing scripts (e.g., C-shell, Perl, etc.) and performing change control of software products * Experience with and solid understanding of Software Configuration Management processes * Experience with CMMI and ISSO standards * Occasional travel * Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance, including an interim clearance Desired Qualifications: * Demonstrated team leadership skills * Adaptable and willing to work varying assignments * Knowledge of ISSO, Six Sigma and CMMI standards/processes * Experience with Marine, Navy or Military Systems * Self-motivated and possess good communication skills, particularly in documenting evaluation results * Customer focused and has the ability to work in a team environment * Demonstrated problem solving skills 6Sigma Summary At Raytheon our employees share our best practice focus on delivering solutions that assure every mission is a success.
