Principal Systems Engineer - Autopilot/Control Systems

Senior lead autopilot/control system engineer in charge of performance assessment and design tasks. Performance assessment includes analysis of nonlinear autopilot and servomechanism control systems in both the time and frequency domain. Design, verify, validate, and document autopilot/actuation systems functionality in both simulations and missile software. Identify and direct course of action for autopilot/control system development, including requirements flow down, simulation and software, integration, verification, and validation. Includes establishing autopilot/control systems analysis/design methodologies and priorities, establishing schedules and milestones, interfacing with customer on technical issues, and directing/tasking other employees in accomplishing their tasks. Autopilot/control systems lead will also work closely with GNC and Systems IPT Leads to direct the system performance verification activities with regard to the autopilot/control system function. Cost Account Management responsibilities may also be assigned. Minimum eight years applied experience required. Security Clearance: Secret. At a minimum, an Interim Secret clearance will be required in order to start work. Positions at Raytheon may require U.S. citizenship for purposes of obtaining clearances. Additional clearances may also be required from the DoD. Required Skills: Emphasis on analytical and mathematical control system skills. Background in classical control theory and dynamics, including aerodynamics and/or servo control. Leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior staff members. Previous missile autopilot/control system design experience is required. Knowledge in ALL of the following disciplines/tools: advanced controls, digital control, advanced dynamics, optimization, MATLAB and C/C++ programming. Desired Skills: Looking for individuals with strong interest in developing new tools and techniques to improve design process. Autopilot or servo control experience in weapon systems preferred.
