Principal Systems Engineer (PEO GCS Systems Engineer Center of Excellence)
LOCATION: ALEXANDRIA, VA 22301 Job Description: The candidate will be responsible for the analysis of mission systems requirements, as they relate to the implementation of combat capabilities across the family of current and future ground combat vehicles. Responsibility centers on the design, development and implementation of systems engineering analysis products to perform systems-of-systems and systems evaluations at the ground combat systems level. The candidate will interface with both government and contractor personnel to: define requirements, execute trade studies, perform combat capabilities analysis, and recommend systems solutions for implementation across multiple combat platforms. This involves balancing of systems performance, mission effectiveness, and cost. The candidate will serve as part of an on-site team of software and systems engineers supporting the Program Manager, Modular Brigade Enhancements located at the US Army Arsenal in Warren, Michigan. Technical responsibilities include executing as part of a joint contractor-government systems engineering team to: perform systems engineering and architecture trades necessary to balance capability, risk, affordability, and supportability; perform trade studies to recommend best value capabilities integration from FCS Spin Outs, PEO GCS platform improvements, and the rest of the available tech base; recommend the methods for technical communications; apply common systems engineering tools and reporting mechanisms; develop a set of systems engineering foundation documents that establish the tenants for a comprehensive mission systems integration implementation and the rules of engagement for government and contractor execution; provide best value approaches to systems engineering training. Activities support the analysis and selection of candidate combat capabilities from FCS spin out activities and the DoD tech base to be installed by existing combat vehicle developers. Ideal candidate has background in military tactics, techniques, and procedures and have the ability to adapt to changing requirements. Required Skills: « Must have 10+ years systems engineering involving the analysis of requirements and their implementation across ground combat vehicles « Must be able to contribute to a multi-discipline engineering team in a complex government –contractor collaborative environment « Must be able to contribute to the development of complex system of systems ground vehicle sub-system requirements, interfaces, and architectures « Must have a Strong Systems Engineering background and familiarity with requirements decomposition and analysis, IMP/IMS development, and risk management « Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills « Must be proficient with systems engineering processes and procedures throughout the product life cycle Position is based out of US Army Arsenal in Warren, MI. Co-location is required.
