The Product Design Engineer acts as a liaison between the engineer and the drafter to ensure that system hardware is documented per military requirements.

 

Job responsibilities include: Develops concepts and designs layouts of complex mechanical or electrical equipment, parts, and assemblies and creates computer aided product definitions and documentation. Uses engineering principles and techniques plus Computer Aided Design (CAD) and three-dimensional modeling software tools to perform job responsibilities, which include the ability to use standard engineering and mathematical models, as applicable, to analyze design results. Works on a variety of projects and tasks, following defined procedures and practices. Accurately estimates workload in terms of hours and time necessary to complete assigned projects. Uses engineering and design models to calculate dimensions and tolerances to ensure form, fit, function and manufacturability of components and assemblies. Performs component research to recommend design alternatives, and contributes to technical designs and documentation. Consults with engineering and integrated supply chain personnel to verify reliability of design. Prepares for and facilitates internal and external product reviews and resolves comments generated during those reviews. Ability to apply analytical and creative thinking to solve problems. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Tasks require a high degree of responsibility and accountability. May perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) degree and 2-5 years relevant experience. In lieu of degree 10 years related experience will qualify.

 

Additional Qualifications:Experience with 3D modeling software and Microsoft Project desired.Knowledge of AFSCN highly desirable. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite softwareExperience with AutoCAD or similar software programs. Solid understanding of military documentation requirements Ability to independently accomplish tasks that may be sequenced with the work of others. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Possess DOD secret clearance or the ability to obtain required clearance.
