Production Manager

 

Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, this key position is responsible for organizing, coordinating and managing daily operations to manufacture significant sales revenue for Defense, Railroad and Industrial markets, in a job shop oriented production environment. Duties entail formulating policies, resources planning, and implementing continuous improvement processes for safe, efficient and cost effective use of materials, methods, equipment and human resources.

 

 Responsibilities also include:

 Developing and implementing departmental plans and metrics to meet plant wide objectives for safety, quality, productivity, retention & cost effectiveness. Communicating goals and measurements to all direct reports through regularly scheduled departmental meetings. Applying LEAN principles and especially HUTCHINSON corporate lean principles, and fostering continuous improvement methodologies that ensure improved productivity, efficiency, and eliminate waste among a diverse workforce. Managing compression & injection molding, fabricated assembly and secondary assembly of complex rubber to metal bonded parts, plus maintenance, coordinating with mold repair and process engineering group to ensure product accuracy, reliability and on-time delivery, based upon customer requirements. Providing technical expertise and effective problem solving techniques to resolve manufacturing issues. Planning and implementing programs to maintain a safe work environment & to foster suggestions from among hourly workers. Driving continuing efforts to reduce scrap and optimizing material utilization. Focusing on employee development and cross training to increase efficiencies. Managing prototype and new product introductions effectively by collaborating with design, process and quality engineering. Identifying and investigating variances from standard costs, operating budgets and implementing corrective actions with finance and other departments .Understanding and complying with, ISO 9001, AS9100 and ISO14001 requirements.Assuring that equipment and facilities are maintained, develop predictive and preventive maintenance.Performing other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements: 

 

This position requires a Bachelors Degree, preferably in mechanical engineering and 7-10 years’ work experience in increasingly responsible manufacturing positions.   Previous experience operating in ISO9001/AS9100/ISO14001 quality environment required; must possess leadership skills and the ability to assume ‘player-coach role’ as well as good written and oral communication skills. Exceptional computer skills are a must.  Defense related and/or rubber industry experience, preferred. Must be US citizen or permanent resident.
