AAI is looking for a Program Director - Advanced Programs. Candidate will be responsible and accountable for the management, budget and schedule performance of a group of advanced developing engineering programs of large systems or products, or production or logistics programs for major total systems. Programs serve multiple external customers and require developing and coordinating program requirements with several subcontract and several distinctive products. Requires the development and management of several program plans and delivery methods. Programs may be contained at more than one major geographic location requiring coordination of technology and/or production across multiple domestic and/or worldwide locations. Responsible for meeting strategic business development objectives defined by the Strategic Business Unit (SBU). Responsibilities may include:Coordinates proposal preparation; statements of work and specifications; estimation of product cost and the negotiation of contract prices, financial terms and program requirementsResponsible for coordinating competitive intelligence for specific product areas where competition comes into play Participates in formulating program plans and objectives for the program area and reviews and approves programs and their implementation within the Strategic Business Unit (SBU)Establishes technology roadmaps and overall product strategies to ensure timely development, sufficient discretionary and resource planning and eventual transition of product to marketDevelops and monitors 5 year budgets (waterfalls) for all product areasResponsible for the establishment of cost controls and monitoring adherence to contract requirements, reporting and justifying of costs through: Review and analysis of financial metric data (winsight, MPM, etc)Development, review and update of Cost Projection Forecasts (CPF) Development, review and update of Program Management Status Reports (PMSR) and Cost Performance Reports (CPR) Development, review and update of external Cost Schedule Status Reports (CSSR) as required Review and update of End Item Shipping SchedulesParticipation in Program Management Reviews (PMR)Responsible for establishing and monitoring adherence to multiple program plans including schedule and risk management, resource planning, requirements management, and cash flow management. Prepares and issues operational and program directives and controlling product configurationDevelops and maintains positive relationships with external and internal customersReviews and directs the performance of program functional task elements such as engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality control, logistics, and administrative functionsSupervises the work of Sr. Program Managers, Program Managers and Engineering staffTutors less skilled personnel to increase their effectivenessMay expand the business base related to the scope of assigned programsProvides leadership in the application of CMMI process integration and product improvement methodologies. May participate in corporate process improvement initiativesMonitors and ensures adherence to requirements defined by AAI Program Management System procedures, work instructions and process guides
REQUIRED SKILLSUnderstanding of various hardware and software engineering technologies In depth knowledge and understanding of the procurement or acquisition processes for Department of Defense and International customers and markets Demonstrated cost and financial management knowledge to include program cost control, profit and loss, cash and inventory skillsIn depth understanding of applicable military and commercial specifications and standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9000/14001 requirementsUnderstanding of all internal operating processes, procedures and criteriaPersonal computer skills. Long-range forecast is of undefined duration and represents a key factor in AAI's strategic business objectives.
Program Technical Requirements
Program(s) typically involve new advanced technologies and applications that apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts across program requirements. Working with, and directing the activities of engineers on a daily basis.
Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum of ten years of directly related experience in Program Management with a Bachelor's Degree in a Technical field, or equivalent education and experience to demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the job duties. Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent desired.
Must be a U.S. citizen. Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a government security clearance.
