A well established design and manufacturing company in Costa Mesa has a current need for a Project Engineering Manager.  This is an excellent opportunity for a top level Program Manager with solid project management, technical knowledge and customer interface experience.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Project Engineering Manager will be responsible for new product development programs from the concept stage through production.  The Program Manager will also be responsible for the preparation of Product Requirements Documents (PRD) derived from the Marketing Requirements Documents (MRD) which identifies our product features.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

1.  The chosen candidate will work with engineering staff and external suppliers, to facilitate the development of a project plan with clearly defined deliverables, resource requirements, cost estimates, and milestone timelines. 

 

2.  The chosen candidate will converse on a daily basis with worldwide customers, suppliers and internal departments. 

 

3.  This employee will work closely with customers to understand their needs and it will be expected for this employee to propose solutions that meet both their requirement as well as our internal technical abilities, production schedule, and cost requirements.  

 

4.  The chosen candidate will implemented a Stage Gated Process to make sure the product satisfies the customers’ need and meets performance requirements.

1.  The ideal candidate must have experience dealing with suppliers in Asia and understand the tactics to ensure the quality, cost, and scheduled performances are met.

 

2.  Ability to consistently manage each program, assist in execution and resolve any conflicts that may occur during the development is a must. 

 

3.  Successful customer experience with proven track records to establish customers’ confidence, loyalty, and satisfaction is strongly desired.  

 

4.  Technical proficiency in ruggedized product design and familiarity of military spec MIL-STD-810F and 461E is a plus. 

 

5.  Must be available to visit customers and suppliers, domestically and internationally, as needed, to resolve any issues that may require immediate attention.

 

6.  Familiarity with Chinese spoken language a plus.

 

7.  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with various departments and all levels of personnel with diplomacy and emotional maturity. 

 

8.  The selected candidate will be able to make independent decisions and set priorities based on technical and business trade-offs.

 

9.  This employee must be self-motivated, project and schedule driven, and able to perform tasks with minimum supervision. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

The ideal candidate should have a B.S. or M.S. Degree in an Engineering field with an Electrical or Mechanical background. 

 

Must have 5-7 years in aerospace industry.

 

Must have at least 3 years of experience in product development engineering and 3 years of project or program management.
