Radars Project Engineer 5 Position Description Support the Radars Project Operations sub team in the daily management of all Radars operations and Engineering change process activities. Duties include support to the GMD change management processes, including preparation of change documentation, participating and organizing the radars level 3 change board and representing the Radars organization at the level II CCB as well as brown and green rooms and tracking all changes through implementation/coordination. Work with all other parts of the radars organization to assure that all impacts for each change have been properly documented in the appropriate change package and board reviews. Coordinate with Radars Product Operations team located in Woburn, MA to coordinate all change activities to capture supplier impacts Competencies General/Leadership [ + ] Planning And Organizing Consistently and proactively identifies more critical and less critical activities and assignments; effectively adjusts priorities when appropriate. Proactively determines project or assignment requirements by breaking them down into tasks and identifying types of equipment, materials, and people needed. Effectively allocates appropriate amounts of time for completing own work; consistently avoids scheduling conflicts. Is an expert at taking advantage of available resources (individuals, processes, departments, and tools) to complete work efficiently; proactively coordinates with internal and external partners. Uses time effectively and prevents irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with work completion. [ + ] Project Management Recognized enterprise experience in creating comprehensive multi-tiered project schedules for significant organization, enterprise and business unit projects identifying time frames for key project milestones and ensure alignment of sub tier activities for overall project visibility, tracking and completion. Directs and manages more complex project schedules requiring interfacing with multi regional or international activities. Independently identifies project resource requirements, integrates and directs multi project elements into a single collective overall project plan. Collaborates with others on the most complex projects assigned. As an enterprise role model demonstrates ability to direct, delegate and ensure performance of assigned responsibilities and tasks as a project team leader in support of enterprise wide or extremely complex large-scale projects. Identifies and resolves any issues to ensure the successful completion of the project. Technical [ + ] Engineering Processes Advanced/expert knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics). Advanced/expert knowledge of the interaction between departments/ disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g., Operations, Logistics, Business). [ + ] Engr Knowledge & Comprehension Advanced knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems. The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables. [ + ] Product Knowledge Subject matter expert in knowledge of product/service value stream. [ + ] Proj Management Theory/Concept Advanced, expert knowledge of Project Management theory, concepts and principles (e.g. theory of constraints, critical path methodology, project risk management, triple constraints, project scope management, project management lifecycle etc.) contained in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK[R] Guide). [ + ] Project Leadership Advanced/expert ability to direct, delegate, and ensure performance of assigned responsibilities and tasks as a project team leader in support of enterprise wide and/or extremely complex large scale projects. Advanced/expert ability to identify and resolve any issues to ensure the successful completion of the project. Education and/or Experience Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 14 to 19 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 12 to 17 years experience or a PhD degree with 9 to 14 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Other Job related information Position requires knowledge of planning and scheduling processes, cost analysis, Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and project management techniques. Experience with Microsoft Project, Open Plan Professional (OPP) or COBRA is preferred.
