Recertification Group Supervisor (1407)

DescriptionThe successful candidate will direct, monitor, and control all engineering and technical activities of the Recertification Group in support of the ETIS program located at Goddard Space Flight Center. The systems supported are used to handle, transport and lift critical spaceflight hardware. The Supervisor will report directly to the Manager, Recertification, for compliance to all GSFC/NASA technical, operational, administrative, and regulatory requirements. The work of the Recertification Group includes: Maintaining and certifying Lifting Device Equipment, including crane systems for safe operations; Recertificaton of Pressure Vessels and systems; and Assuring compliance to OSHA and NASA regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Supervise daily operations through the efficient and cost-effective use of resources; Ensure that quality services are provided within schedule and budgetary constraints; Schedule and track all required inspections of hydrasets, mobile cranes, forklifts, aerial lifts and other material handling equipmentTrack technical and financial progress of metrology operations; Assure compliance to ISO and safety guidelines; Implementing quality control procedures; Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives; Provide training for crane operators and critical lift coordinators and validate the effectiveness of such; and Handle all Group administrative requirements and personnel related issues. The supervisor is expected to effectively interface with ETIS personnel, teammates and NASA customers. Will provide technical support which includes but not limited to: generate and track requirements for NASA and GSFC inspections of lifting device equipments; assist in the generation of requirements for the procurement of new systems.Required ExperienceMust have demonstrated experience providing leadership to technicians and engineers in an industrial or NASA environment. Experience must include: developing work plans; tracking and monitoring staff performance; developing training programs, tracking and monitoring progress of maintenance; generating financial and technical status reports; and providing leadership and direction on a daily basis. Successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills while applying an assertive hands-on leadership styleKnowledge NASA-STD-8719.1 and NASA-STD-8719.9 is required.of is desirable. Familiarity of contamination control requirements are helpful since some crane systems are located in cleanrooms.Must possess Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment where had responsibility for overseeing the operations for LDE and Pressure vessel systems.
