Research Scientist

Teledyne Scientific & Imaging, LLC (based in Thousand Oaks, CA) is currently seeking an exceptional Senior Scientist to work closely with our technical team on an array of challenging programs in computational neuroscience, brain-computer interfaces, scene analysis and understanding, probabilistic reasoning, and learning and recognition applications. This position is at our Durham, North Carolina research facility.

Primary Responsibilities As member of a research team, you will define, develop, and deliver novel solutions to a broad range of problems that could include neuro-technology applications in computer vision, autonomous systems, learning and decision systems for the Government and commercial industry through these functions: In collaboration with other colleagues, identify critical challenges and provide innovative solutions to leading-edge R&D and conduct applied research on aerospace and defense R&D contracts (~75%) Assist with customer interaction to demonstrate and deliver research results through written reports, briefings and participation in program reviews (~10%) Lead pursuit of funding for decision sciences research from DoD, DARPA, ONR, NASA, and similar agencies (~15%) A small amount of travel (less than 5% time) is anticipated.

Skills/Experience PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computational Neuroscience, Electrical Engineering or a related field with 5+ years post graduate experience (Exceptional candidates possessing an MS with 10+ years of research experience and publication record will also be considered) Substantial experience in neuroscience, EEG, MEG, EMG, MRI/fMRI, eye tracking, behavior analysis, experimental methods, image/scene analysis and understanding, detection theory, decision support systems and/or biologically-inspired algorithms. Strong experience with modern programming languages like Java and/or C++ and tools like Matlab Strong foundation in mathematics Excellent interpersonal and communication (presentation & writing) skills Experience working with academic partners Experience in proposal and technical writing Experience in executing government research programs
