STRESS ANALYST

 

Responsibilities:  Successful candidate will work independently and with guidance from Task Lead to plan and perform structural analyses. Analyses will consider the static strength, stability, and fracture/fatigue life of Crew Launch Vehicle Upper Stage primary and secondary structures. Candidate will formally document all analysis results; preparing technical reports and presenting findings at technical reviews as required. Candidate will provide inputs and assist in the development of structural test plans and assist in pre and post-testing analyses. The results and documentation for all assigned tasks will be thoroughly reviewed to assure that outputs are complete, correct, and integrated with project objectives. The candidate will comply with existing processes and procedures and recommend process improvements where appropriate.

Requirements:  BS degree (MS preferred) in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and a minimum of 3 years experience in classical stress analysis and finite element analysis of structural components are required. Experience with flight vehicles is preferred. Familiarity with composite structures, ground support equipment, rocket propulsion or structural testing is also desired. Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience with PATRAN/NASTRN or ABAQUS are desired.
