SUSTAINING MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - AEROSPACE

Our client is a highly successful global aerospace components manufacturer located west of Cleveland, Ohio. They are seeking an experienced SUSTAINING MANUFACTURING ENGINEER out of a machining, grinding, milling environment. Salary 65k to 85k. This is a critical, high visibility position located in northeastern Ohio.

 

BASIC PURPOSE:

Responsible for driving Manufacturing, Design, and Process Problems To Process Improvement Projects Aimed At Positively Effecting First Time Yield (FTY), On Time Delivery (OTD), Reduced Cost Of Operations (RCO), and The General Direction and Daily Projects Of the Sustaining Engineering Team.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Conduct Internal And External Root Cause Analysis And Establish Sound, Lasting Corrective Actions

· Conduct Engineering Disposition And Manufacturing Engineering Activities Related Review, Disposition, And Rework / Repair Of Non-Conforming Material

· Develop Process Improvement Metrics - Collect, Compile, And Analyze Data To Support Improvement

· Review Designs For Producibility And Initiate Drawing Changes As Required

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EXPERIENCE:

· Manufacturing Engineering

o  Thorough Knowledge Of Turning, Milling, And Grinding Process Capabilities

o  Fundamental Understanding Of Fixturing And Tooling Required To Convert Raw Material (Barstock And Castings) To Finished Goods

o  Ability To Create / Evaluate Process Routings And Detailed Work Instructions

o  Other Beneficial Skills / Knowledge Include:  QA / Inspection Techniques, SPC, Casting Processes, MRP, And CAD/CAM

o  Thorough Knowledge Of Assembly And Test Processes And Procedures; Minimum Of 5 Years Assembly And Test Experience

· Design / Mechanical Engineering

o  Fundamental Knowledge And Practical Application Of Statics, Dynamics, Fluids, Machine Design, And Statistics

o  Ability To Qualitatively And Quantitatively Evaluate Mechanical Designs As Related To Part To Part Interactions And Dimensional Stack Ups Including Thorough Knowledge Of GD&T

· Continuous Improvement

o  Fundamental Understanding Of Lean Manufacturing Principals And Implementation Of The DMAIC Process To Conduct Problem Solving Projects

o  Ability To Generate Process Flow Maps And Utilize Results To Improve Processes / Manufacturing Operations

o  Practical Application Of Problem Solving Techniques Related To Definition Of Root Cause And Generation Of Corrective Actions

o  Other Beneficial Skills / Knowledge Include:  Kaizen, SMED, 5s, 5 Why, And Six Sigma Techniques

· Interpersonal / Cultural

o  Candidate Must Be Passionate, Self Motivated, Flexible, Possess Out Of The Box Thinking And Team Leadership Skills, And Be Able To Effectively Communicate (Verbally And In Writing) The Progress Of Projects Assigned

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Required -  Bachelor Of Science In Mechanical Engineering

  -  Minimum Of 5 Years Of Relevant Manufacturing Engineering Experience

· Desired / Beneficial -  SME Certification, SQE Certification, Formal Six Sigma Training
