Sales DirectorRonkonkoma, NY Manage and mentor a sales team for an aggressively growing aerospace manufacturing organization!! This is an amazing opportunity for a top notch Sales Director to develop new business and maintain existing customers within a leading producer of custom engineered pneumatic systems and components found in nearly all commercial and military aircraft, submarines, missiles, space launch vehicles and business jets!!! Through selling of the Company’s product portfolio, you will manage the sales and business development teams, interface across other internal Business Development/Sales organizations to identify cross-division sales opportunities, and drive growth across the business units. While reporting to the VP of Business Development & Strategy, you will be responsible for managing sales and business development strategies and processes, including determination of market trends and demand forecasting, management of business capture targeting and closure, proposal and contract negotiation, brand management, advertising and marketing strategy, investment and acquisition recommendations and overall ownership of growth planning for the business. About The Position… In this fast paced and challenging position, you will be responsible for… PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:· Making field sales calls on existing and prospective customers· Increasing OEM business by working with customers’ engineering and purchasing staff to have the Company’s custom products and capabilities baselined into product specifications· Establishing/managing contacts at military program offices in Washington D.C.· Providing sales demand input to SIOP· Providing BD/Sales input for monthly business review process· Responding to technical and price quotations via Request for Information and Request for Proposal· Developing and implementing strategies that successfully target potential customers· Identifying target accounts in which to promote new business· Forecasting territorial sales and maintaining customer reports· Preparing detailed customer presentations· Maintaining customer contact reports for service and follow-up· Supporting various trade shows and exhibition· Interfacing/leading Washington D.C. Military PMO contacts· Managing global distribution and representative networks· Managing team performance; top grading talent and maximizing organizational performance ACCOUNTABILITIES:· Grow base business in accordance with targets set by the business unit· Identify and track market trends which impact the business· Develop strategic product and customer driven forecasting model (short, medium and long-term) aligned with current and projected product lines (3 months).· Manage & improve BD/Sales team performance· Participate in two LEAN focused continuous improvement initiatives, including one as lead facilitator (3-12 months).· Create competitive, profitable and customer focused pricing model aligned with sales, marketing and new business development efforts (6 months). REPORTING STRUCTURE & KEY RELATIONSHIPS:The Sales Director interfaces with various internal business partners to identify and lead the new business capture process.· Reports To: Vice President, Business Development & Strategy· Direct Reports: 4 – 6 (local and remote)· Key Internal Partners: Engineering, Contracts and Program Management, Manufacturing, Assembly and Test, Quality and Finance.· Customers: The Sales Director is the primary contact for new business, but may also work in concert with other Program Managers across the business for issues on existing products. These new business customers include OEM aerospace military and commercial manufacturers, aftermarket aerospace distributors, government entities and medical customers. To be immediately and seriously considered for this amazing opportunity, you must have the following: EDUCATION: Undergraduate degree in Business, Management, Sales and Marketing, Engineering (preferable) or other related areas. MBA a plus. EXPERIENCE: 5-8 years of leading teams with progressive sales, product, project and/or program management experience in Aerospace, Defense or related market space. Lean or six sigma experience a plus. Proven track record in technical sales in aerospace market (at least 3-5 years desirable) CORE COMPETENCIES:· High ethical standards.
