Satellite Comm Services Controller (Assoc Eng 4 or 5) (NENS)

Honeywell products touch the lives of most people everyday, whether you’re flying on a plane, driving a car, heating or cooling a home, furnishing an apartment, taking medication for an illness or playing a sport.As a member of the NASA Space Network Operations Group, the Satellite Communications Services Controller is the technical focal point for the operation of the Space-to-Ground Link Terminal (SGLT) between the WSC ground station and the operational NASA Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS). Position responsibilities include 1) the configuration, operation, and monitoring of the SGLT equipment needed to communicate with the Mission Spacecraft; 2) the configuration, operation, and monitoring of the TTC resources needed to control and communicate with the TDRS; 3) monitor TDRS telemetry and transmit commands to the TDRS as required; 4) quick resolution to system anomalies; 5) generate and/or maintain pertinent documentation and  6) provide on the job training.    This position involves rotating shift work and successful certification.   Specific contract benefits will apply to this position. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - Assoc Eng IV - 2 years technical training and 5-8 years related experience.  In lieu of formal education, 9-12 years of directly related experience will be evaluated.   - Assoc Eng V -  2 years technical training and 8-10 years related experience.  In lieu of formal education, 12-14 years of directly related experience will be evaluated.  - Minimum 5 years experience with Satellite Communications and/or major ground station control experience required. 

Clearance:  Job offer is contingent upon obtaining an interim Secret Security Clearance within 30 days of offer acceptance and prior to arrival on station.  Must be able to maintain a Secret Security Clearance. 

 Additional Qualifications: Successful Communications Services Controller primary certification.  Secondary certification in Satellite Controller, Mission scheduling, or Site Specialist positions required after primary certification.  Responds quickly and effectively during critical and emergency situations.  Assimilates data quickly and consistently extends the scope of his/her capabilities.  Communicates effectively, verbally and written.  Handles continued high levels of stress and works well under pressure.  Perform complex ground segment command activities.  Implement appropriate routine and contingency procedures with limited supervision.  As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we are committed to a diverse workforce.
