DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:#6443· Develop target fabrication and experimental physics methods in support of Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) at the pulsed-power Z facility.· As a Lead Scientist, work with experimenters and others to determine target needs and detailed target requirements for experiments supporting high energy density physics (HEDP, NNSA’s weapons physics mission, and inertial confinement fusion, and inertial fusion energy development.)· Develop technologies for fabricating targets meeting requirements and develop methods for diagnostics in HEDP experiments.· Work in a team environment to turn a concept into a finished product.· Maintain research records and notebooks in a concise, legible and complete manner.· Compose internal study reports and scientific papers for publication.· Carry out job responsibilities and assignments safely and maintain a clean and safe work area.· Reports to the GA manager on-site at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM.· Will be stationed at Sandia National Laboratories Target Fabrication area.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · BS in Physics plus four years experience, or relevant equivalent experience.· Demonstrated proficiency in planning and problem solving.· Experience writing technical and management documents, reports and presentations. · Effective communication skills and ability to articulate scientific results.· Demonstrated team leadership with the ability to effectively manage technicians.· Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-institution experimental team.· Able to work extended hours and travel when required.· US citizenship is required for DOE security clearance. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: · Current DOE security clearance.
