Required Skills: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years experience; MS with 8+ years experience; BS with 10+ years experience. Extensive experience in VLSI IC design including layout, verification, tapeout, burn-in, and test. Experience integrating highly complex digital designs including development, characterization, qualification, failure analysis, yield and reliability. Working knowledge of solid-state physics and device modeling. Must have proven the ability to attract independent funding for research. Experience in leadership of a technical team of 5+ people toward complex goal. Ability to mentor junior engineers with regards to career as well as technical goals. Shown ability to successfully interact with management and other colleagues in a large collaborative environment toward the goal of increased knowledge base within the institution as well as leading advances in state-of-the-art. U. S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain a DoD clearance. Desired Skills: Experience with MEMS design, analysis or specification and use. Concrete understanding of the effects of ionizing radiation on solid-state devices. Ability to work within Cadence VLE or VXL design flow. Active DoD clearance is a significant plus.

Will: Work as a Senior Engineer (Electrical) within the Bio-Inspired Technologies and Systems Group.  Lead two task elements as part of a larger team of independent thinkers to develop state-of-the-art technologies.   Be responsible for IC Design/Layout and work with other teams on Verification and Tapeout.   Take direction from team leadership for high-level descriptions of deliverables, goals and approach.   Work with technical team to develop specific approach and execute the same.   Co-lead a research team with both indirect and direct interactions with other NASA centers, JPL Program Offices, and non-NASA customers.   Attract new funding for independent research projects in the same or similar research area to augment group capabilities.
