Senior Engineer (Component Reliability)

This position will work on multi-disciplinary engineering teams to support component reliability, maintainability, safety and/or space environment effects on parts and materials. Will work on both development and production programs for various products (spacecraft and launch vehicle propulsion systems; liquid monopropellant, bipropellant and electric rocket engines; and related electronic hardware). 50% - Analysis and assessment of space environment effects on parts and materials. Analysis and prediction of the reliability of spacecraft and launch vehicle propulsion components and systems using tools such as reliability mathematical modeling and data analysis; failure modes, effects and criticality analysis (FMECA); fault tree analysis (FTA); and probabilistic risk assessment (PRA). 20% - Safety assessment of spacecraft and launch vehicle propulsion components and systems. 10% - Collection and analysis of propulsion component and system test and operating data. 10% - Presentation of analysis results in both formal written reports and memos. 10% - Presentation of analysis results in internal and customer design reviews. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: -Other duties as assigned. Requires a Bachelor's in one of the following disciplines: Reliability, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials or Aerospace Engineering; Mathematics or Statistics and five years of directly related engineering experience. Must be proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with database, reliability and/or mathematical/statistical analysis software a plus. Must have the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment and have effective verbal and written communication skills. Advanced degree and/or coursework toward an advanced degree desired. Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency, or other status as a U.S. Person. Working Conditions: Workplace includes areas where chemical materials are encountered.
