Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

 

 

Pro-Dex, Inc. headquartered in Irvine California, a publicly traded (NASDAQ symbol: PDEX), profitable and expanding engineering development and manufacturing company.  Pro-Dex specializes in bringing speed to market in the development and manufacture of technology-based solutions that incorporate embedded motion control and miniature rotary drive systems serving the medical, dental, factory automation and scientific research markets.

 

We currently have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at our company headquarters in Irvine, CA. 

 

Responsibilities:

· Develop new products based upon customer needs and requirements 

· Evolve conceptual ideas into detailed designs

· Document designs utilizing a 3D CAD system

· Perform extensive analysis of designs (tolerance, o-ring compression, stress FEA)

· Create test protocols for new designs

· Create Design History File for new products

· Perform material review of discrepant hardware

· Maintain existing designs and documentation

· Create and update procedures

· Perform root cause analysis and create DOE protocols for issues with existing products

 

Accountabilities:

· Create designs that are accurate, producible, cost effective, and reliable

· Manage and meet project cost and schedule objectives

· Strive for continuous improvement

· Perform all work according to customer specifications, following statutory and regulatory requirements

· Maintain a safe working environment

 

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of professional design experience, preferably in the medical device industry.  Thorough knowledge of 3D design tools such as Catia, Solidworks, or Inventor.  Strong analytical skills needed for tolerance analyses, FMEA, and FEA.  Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.  Knowledge of standard drafting practices, GD&T.  Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.  Experience with dynamic sealing technologies and coatings is a plus.  Must have strong written and oral communication skills in a multi-cultural work environment.
