Senior Mechanical Engineer

 

Rochester, NY based company has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer in their military applications group. 

 

SUMMARY of RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for full cycle designs of plastic, ruggedized electromechanical and optomechanical products

Interface with suppliers, work with manufacturing, optical and electrical engineering to develop robust product designs and improve existing product lines

This includes structural and thermal analysis, drafting and documentation, and tooling design

Analyze and create product specifications and performance requirements

Developing testing required to determine if products are capable of working in adverse conditions, especially environmental testing and Mil-Std-810F

Troubleshoot and design and manufacturing issues

Manage external vendors

Will be working on several programs concurrently

Utilize Pro/Engineering

 

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

BS in Mechanical Engineering or BSAE

5+ years of mechanical design and packaging

Must have experience designing plastic ruggedized equipment for military or industrial applications

CAD experience utilizing Pro/E or Solidworks

Experience with GD&T and ASME Y14.5M-1994

Ability to work effectively with top level managers, clients and subcontractors
