Senior Project Systems Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

Manages the execution of the International Ground Station (IGS) contracts on assigned IGS Projects. International Ground Stations receive and process data from the GeoEye Satellite constellation.  Serves as the primary management  and technical point of contact to the customer during execution of the ground station delivery contracts.  Refines customer requirements and manages development of new Ground Station system configuration. Responsibilities include execution of prime installation contractor and their sub-contracts, managing vendors and suppliers, oversight of logistics and training programs, completion of Site Acceptance Test and other management tasks (multi-source operations, Regional Center configuration modifications, and integration with existing systems) while maintaining costs within approved budgets. This position may be based in Dulles VA or Thornton CO.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  

Provides Senior Level Systems Engineering and Project management leadership for Ground Station contract execution to include technical solutions, schedules, systems build-out and Project budgets.  Supervise matrixed contractor and in-house personnel, project integration, and fielding of the IGS or major system upgrades.

 

 

 

2.  

Prepares and conducts management and technical meetings with the customer, development contractors, and vendors on ground station systems, fielding, technical support, initial operations and external systems integration issues.

 

 

3.  

Manages the planning and execution of the installation, testing, and transition to Operations.  Coordinates follow-on support as support transitions to the Ground Station Maintenance Department. 

 

 

4.  

Supports ROM and Proposal activities for new projects, additions or modifications.

 

 

5.  

Monitors and reports on the status of the International Ground Station project management.

 

 

6.  

Maintains currency in technical, operational, contractual, and marketing issues for the project.

 

7.

Participates in scheduled project, staff, status, schedule, and configuration control board meetings

 

8.

 Supports corporate budget planning exercises

 

9.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

EDUCATION:

·  Bachelor of Science degree with a major in engineering, remote sensing, computer science or related field experience.

 

 

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

·Minimum of 10 years prior experience with systems engineering and/or project management activities including a minimum of 3 years prior experience with remote sensing systems and/or exploitation systems.

·Prior experience in fielding automated systems in overseas locations.

 

 

COMPUTER EXPERIENCE:Microsoft Office; Microsoft Project; Visio

 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

·  Ability to lead and work well in a team environment.

·  Demonstrated understanding of related remote sensing technologies.

·  Complementary abilities in project management support, and commercial business practices.

·  Excellent verbal and written communication and conflict resolution skills to interact with internal employees and external customers at all levels.

·  Extensive overseas travel will be required- 20-25%

 

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES/CLEARANCES:US Citizen able to obtain and maintain Security Clearance
