Customers include the worlds militaries as well as system integrators. Sensis, Seagull Tech Center (STC) currently has an opening for a Senior Research Engineer in our Reston, VA location. STC has an established reputation of excellence as a leading provider of innovative research and development, including prototype field testing, in the area of aviation transportation for agencies such as NASA, FAA & DOD.As a Senior Research Engineer, you will be a member of a highly skilled, creative, multidisciplinary team in a flexible, intellectually stimulating environment conducting Air Traffic Management (ATM) and Traffic Flow Management (TFM) research. Responsibilities will include air traffic management system engineering design and analysis.Responsibilities:Design and analysis of air traffic management systemsPlanning and executing project plans Performing system design and algorithm development Performing system development and analysis, system testing and validation tasks Providing written technical documentation and oral presentations to the customer and submitting winning written proposalsDetermining and providing technical and programmatic guidance to other system and software engineers, as well as subcontractors.The ideal candidate will be a motivated and innovative Senior Research Engineer with the ability to work on multiple projects both autonomously and as part of an integrated project team. This individual will have the ability to act as a technical lead and effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Qualifications:Advanced degree in Engineering/Science (Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical, Operations Research, or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematic, Physics)Minimum 7-10 years engineering experienceRequired Skills:Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high quality solutions Ability to manage a team of engineers to achieve project goalsExtensive aviation domain knowledgeExcellent oral and written communication skills for fulfilling deliverables as well as interfacing with team members, management, the customer and industry professionalsEffective time management & multi-tasking skills used to meet deadlines.
