Our employees' internal resumes are accessible on-line by managers and human resources, allowing them to match employee interests with company needs—in short, getting the right people in the right jobs, at the right time.John Deere Product Engineering Center is seeking a Sensor Engineer to specify and develop sensors and switches for our agricultural tractors, provide support to other agricultural equipment division units on sensors, and work with outside suppliers to develop and deliver various sensors/switches for production use. (Note: the term sensor could refer to a switch or sensing device). In this position, you will: Be responsible for meeting all project schedule milestones. Understand the requirements of each sensor project and convert those requirements into a written functional specification. Work with suppliers to design sensors that meet the written specifications. Maintain required documentation. Jointly develop component qualification plans with Product Verification and Validation. Participate in the production release processes for assigned components. Work with suppliers through the complete project schedule to ensure milestones are met. Assess sensor supplier capabilities and participate in selection of suppliers and sensors. Monitor sensor supplier development and validation activities; recommend corrective action for any issues that arise. Facilitate sensor design reviews, print and process reviews, and FMEA. Participate in continuous improvement activities for sensors. Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics or equivalent experience. Required Skills and Experience 3 or more years of experience in electronic systems or sensor development. Familiar with a wide range of sensor technologies and sensor manufacturing processes. Knowledgeable about environmental and accelerated life test methods as well as correlating these tests with end use environments. Basic understanding of system requirements where sensors are applied. Six sigma green belt minimum, black belt preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communication. Ability to work in a cross-functional team environmentDesired Skills and Experience Experience with sensing technologies for mobile/vehicular applications. Working knowledge of microprocessors, analog, and digital circuits.
