Software Engineer - Embedded
Pratt & Whitney, a recognized leading producer of the world's most powerful jet engines, is looking for dedicated individuals to support our organization. Develop embedded software applications for avionics systems and equipment. Provide creative input to the entire software development life cycle from design and development of new and existing software products, to software integration and validation, to software product release and training. Write technical specifications and create FAA certification documents as required.
Education: BS Computer Science or Applicable Engineering Discipline
Experience: 4-7 years software experience
The following are Required skills/experience for this position.
* Minimum 4 years Experience developing real-time embedded systems software
* Minimum 4 years Experience developing C/C++ and assembly code for embedded micro controllers and processors
* Hands on experience with hardware debugger, logic analyzers / scope, software cross compilers and linkers
* Experience with software validation and verification in a regulatory environment
* Technical writing skills - experience writing technical specifications required
* Strong problem solving, creativity and communication skills.
The following are Desired skills/experience for this position.
* Experience developing software for the Freescale MPC processor or Motorola 68xxx processors
* FAA DO-178B Software Development Life Cycle Experience or equivalent
* Programming in the Linux environment
* Programming in an embedded OS environment (WindRiver, POSIX, others)
* Software protocol experience with embedded Java, html, xml, ftp, tcp, etc.
* Avionics data bus experience: Arinc429, Arinc717, CSDB, ASCB, TTP, FlexRay, AFDX, other..
* Developing embedded software for CAN, Ethernet, WLAN, USB, 1553, others..
* Experience with software encryption protocols
* Experience with configuration management tool, requirements tracing tools, and problem reporting tools.
