Together with the Earth Departure Stage, the Lunar Surface Access Module and the associated launch infrastructure, the Orion is one of the elements of Project Constellation. This position supports the Orion Flight Software Technical Director (TD) in the Space Applications Software group. The Orion Software Project Management Engineer (PME) will be responsible for assisting in managing the Orion Flight Software (FSW) development program. The PME is required to be very proficient with MS Project and knowledgeable in EVMS. The PME will work with the Software TD to assist managing the team, team progress, and team schedule as well as other miscellaneous tasks as needed to support team management. Activities will also include total compliance with prescribed CMMI software development processes. Mentoring of other team members will be necessary as the team grows.  Previous significant experience in software project management and software development processes is required. NASA program knowledge or experience is desired.  The PME will be able to use discretion and professional judgment, based on necessary experience, to provide good written reports and oral presentations to program or engineering management. Position requires good people skills and ability to work effectively with other organizations and individuals at all levels from aides to upper management. Candidate must be process oriented and follow prescribed CMMI processes.
