Sr Field Engineer I - Global Hawk at BAFB

Job Description: Field Engineer will p rovide operational support to the Global Hawk System's Ground Segments at Beale AFB, CA and potentially other world wide locations. Provide pre-mission, mission and post-mission support to AF operators and other contractors. Install HW/SW, checkout and debug HW/SW, design and develop solutions to problems discovered through installation, checkout, use or system analysis. Determine failure root cause, develop, design and implement solutions or coordinate with customer and plant engineers to resolve issues. Interface with customers on short-term and long-term technical, operational, mission related and deployment requirements. Develop, coordinate and implement plans to achieve customer requirements. Analyze system performance vs technical requirements, research and make HW/SW improvement recommendations. Required Skills: 4-6 years experience in HW/SW maintenance and troubleshooting skills for Unix systems. Direct experience on SUN and/or SGI workstations (or equivalent Unix platform), Ethernet networks, routers and switches. Familiarity with UNIX a must, Unix coding/debugging a plus. Functional knowledge of JAVA, MYSQL, and Solaris. Software experience with one or more: C++, Perl, Python, Sybase and/or SQL. Software maintenance, general system administration, Unix scripting, utility programs and familiarity with Windows OS configuration. General knowledge of networking and TCP/IP. Current Secret clearance required for consideration. Desired Skills: Field engineer experience. Familiarity with AF intelligence gathering including imagery processing and exploitation. Cryptos KG75/175. RF and data links. Any familiarity with the Global Hawk Ground Segment a plus. Experience in VoIP, ATM LANs and long haul links, router and switch configuration, RF links and data communications a plus. Experience or familiarity with HVAC, UPS systems, diesel generators. TRAVEL: CONUS/OCONUS possible WORK SCHEDULE: Non-standard work week, overtime and shift work likely. DIFFERENTIALS PAID.
