Sr Ground Systems Engineer

Job Description: The Earth Observation System (EOS) program is seeking a highly motivated Ground Systems Engineer to provide engineering support to the EOS ground system at GSFC Greenbelt, Maryland. The EOS program consists of the NASA Earth Observing satellites Terra, Aqua and Aura. The candidate will perform engineering support functions for the ground system during operations and sustainment activities. Provide technical expertise to operations on the ground system to include space/ground links, ground station support equipment, data transport systems, all ground software, hardware and architecture and interfaces with the White Sands (TDRSS) system and all other internal and external interfaces. Participate on anomaly resolution teams and provide technical support to all other mission operations team members. Required Skills: BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Math, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline (or work experience equivalent to BS degree) with 6-8 years of related work experience in Satellite Operations Center (SOC) supporting operations and sustainment of ground systems and satellite operations and/or science data processing. Desired Skills: Experience and knowledge of complex, distributed ground systems to include satellite ground station equipment and procedures. Network (LAN/WAN) architecture, multicast/unicast protocols and equipment experience. Perl scripting, STOL Programming, Sun OS and Windows® 2000 server experience. Ground system and satellite I&T experience a plus. Knowledge of software and system test and validation processes, operations procedures (SOP), and development and validation. Experience with Raytheon software systems (ECLIPSE ™, EQUINOX ™, ESC ™) highly desired. Experience in dealing with science data processing systems a plus.
