Space Systems/Loral  (SS/L) has export control and security issues that require attention to the citizenship status of of every individual who performs work on its behalf.  All jobs at SS/L require that the employee either be a US Citizen, Permanent Resident of United States, an Asylee or a Refugee.  SS/L is an Equal Opportunity Employee.  Principals only. SUMMARY As a Sr. Mechanical/Principal Design Engineer you will be responsible for:Advanced conceptual design of assigned projects; including initial layout, new manufacturing techniques, documentation and qualification of products into upcoming programs.  This individual will also be responsible for investigating the latest industry technologies and implanting them into new products. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION· Provide technical support to RSO that is in concert with SS/L Strategic Business Plan.· Support Product Improvement Efforts (PIE) and Internal Research and Development (IR&D) to insure significant and measurable advancements within budgets and schedule constraints.· Responsible mechanical design engineer on assigned Programs, including design and documentation of RSO products.· Provide RF packaging technical guidance and resource for RF Products Directorate· Review and revise existing design procedures to lower design time, increase first pass success and to support ISO 9000 activities.· Mastery of Pro/E (WF3 is preferred) is required.· Mastery of AutoCAD (2006 is preferred) is required.· BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience and 10+ yrs experience.
