Job Description: Responsible for leading a multi-function accounting organization at a multi-billion dollar division of a publicly traded Fortune 500 Company. Responsible for developing personnel and the department into becoming stronger leaders, managers, professional accountants and performers; leading and being responsive in a dynamic environment and establishing and leading the organization in accomplishing its goals. Accounting functions in the group include cost accounting, expense accounting, intercompany accounting and overhead accounting, as well as accounting for various balance sheet accounts including inventory, accruals, prepaids, program costs, etc. Additionally, this position will lead professional staff in providing guidance for accounting and accounting oversight for many different types of business transactions in long-term contract program areas. Other departmental activities include balance sheet account reconciliations, cost transfers, and overhead claim submission. Responsible to insure adherence to GAAP, corporate accounting policies and procedures and other accounting standards. Must be able to partner with the business to support business activities from an Accounting perspective. Will work closely with Financial Planning and Analysis and various program offices. Will provide analysis and recommendation of accounting treatment to senior management. Must be able to present complex accounting/financial issues in a simple, clear and concise manner to finance/non-financial managers. Will support audits conducted by various organizations (i.e. government, external PWC audit, internal audit). Will support systems implementation and enhancements as required. Will provide leadership and direction to a staff of 20 - 40.
