LOCATION: EL SEGUNDO, CA 90245 Job Description: The Department Manager will be responsible to effectively lead a large, multi-disciplined department. Responsibilities include: staffing; deployment of process initiatives including RCCC, CMMI, Team of X, and ensuring compliance to processes; performance management to include goal setting, career counseling, and employee training and development; ensure achievement of diversity within the organization; develop the department infrastructure and develop/monitor the department’s strategic plan; frequently interact with program managers, business development, center management, BAEMs and business area VPs to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and center; champion, implement, and sustain R6S within the department. Provide guidance, coaching and direction to Section Managers on performance management, career development & training, and resource allocation. Responsible for leading the department in the execution of the Center and SAS Engineering goals. The Department Manager will be engaged with the various businesses / PEOs to ensure that all aspects of hardware development are addressed. This includes being involved in gate reviews, proposal development, and various design reviews. Program responsibilities also include the following: development/management of system requirements, execution of trade studies, interface definition/management, design integration, verification/test planning, and integration. Required Skills: -12+ years experience in engineering, including leadership roles. -Thorough knowledge of the Center’s products and technologies. -Working knowledge of bidding process and proposal development. -Working knowledge of EVMS, IMS, & IMP tools for managing programs. -Strong written and oral communication skills. -Strong judgment and decision making abilities. -Able to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities. -Excellent follow through and persistence. -Strong advocate for process improvement (e.g. CMMI and R6s). -Must have an Existing SSBI or ability to obtain top secret and special access clearances. -Experience in the defense industry. Required Education: BS in Math, Science or Engineering discipline.
