LOCATION: EL SEGUNDO, CA 90245 Job Description: The Senior Manager in Mechanical Engineering is responsible for program level structural design trade studies, integrity validation, implementation, and non-conformance resolution. In this position, the candidate will demonstrate program-level leadership skills, advising program managers on initial structural/dynamics concepts, producing innovative new solutions to improve performance, and managing senior engineers (in teams of 5-10), and within structural analysis activities with teams of 50+ heads. The candidate will coordinate across disciplines (Systems, thermal analysis, manufacturing, test, supply chain, M&P). The candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert in structural analysis of Space Structures, Reflectors, and Phased Arrays, and is expected to contribute to Raytheon’s knowledge base by leading and coaching in the patent application process, developing and executing IRAD, and leading the creation of new analysis techniques. The Senior Manager in Mechanical Engineering will advise center-level management on new business and overall strategy for improving structural analysis methods and execution. In addition, the candidate will interface with program management and provide them with information and guidance to help drive the creation and implementation of the analytical capabilities required to support the next generation of designs. The candidate is expected to be able to lead developmental design optimization activities within the context of the budget and schedule. The candidate is expected to oversee structural analysis activities, anticipate potential problems, and develop proactive solutions to problems within the design phase allowing completion on-time and on-budget. This candidate will also be required to develop and lead new business pursuits and be able to expand the level of engagement between the analytical community and the various programs. The candidate will be a key contributor to the development and execution of the department business strategy. Required Skills: -12+ years of related work experience. -Industry leading skills in structural analysis, design, test and implementation. -Experience in program management including leading teams, budgeting, scheduling and tracking cost. -Ability of obtain a Secret security clearance. Required Education (including Major): Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics. Phd Preferred.
