Sr. Network Engineer I

LOCATION: FALLS CHURCH, VA 22040 Job Description: The candidate will be a member of an integrated product team involved with the design and development of military ground-based and air vehicle equipment. This is a position for an engineer with 4+ years of work related experience. This position is best characterized as a technical team contributor, responsible for hardware design, implementation and configuration of primarily COTS processor and networking products. The candidate can expect to be involved in all phases of the design and development process, from hardware requirements analysis, through design and documentation, to equipment build and installation. The individual would interact with the supply chain, manufacturing and quality organizations during the build, integration and installation of hardware. The candidate may be expected to serve as a technical contributor on more than one concurrent project. Some travel will be required. Required Skills: The successful candidate will possess the skills to perform the design, implementation, and installation of systems primarily involving processors and networks as well as possess very good verbal and written communication skills He/she must also possess the ability to perform functional testing of networking hardware components and systems., and will use his/her debug skills to isolate and diagnose problems from system level through the component level. Experience with network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, PPP, ATM, VoIP), Sun servers and Solaris operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite products, network design, routing, and switching is required. The candidate must possess a TS/SCI clearance. Desired Skills: It is desired for the candidate to be familiar with UNIX, Solaris 10 and PC Windows Operating Systems and Solaris Administration. Experience with network security is highly desired. Network certifications such as CCNA and CCDA are a plus. Also desirable is familiarity with one or more of the following: ATM, Digital Signal Processing concepts and/or design, RF and data links, and EMI. Required Education (including Major): BS – Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent.
