Airbus North America Engineering - Mobile is a satellite office of Airbus North America Engineering (ANAE) engaged in the design and analysis of cabin interiors, interior systems installation, and cargo systems. The Sr. Project Coordinator is responsible for leading a team of specialists who are responsible for coordinating the project management activities associated with internal and external projects, forecasting issues, and taking action to maintain program objectives. Additionally, this will include development and coordination of project schedules, resource budgets, deliverables, project requirements, risk registers, action items, Earned Value Management Systems, and forecasts. Responsibilities of this position require mature interpersonal skills, communication abilities, an understanding of complex information, and the ability to operate within a complex international environment. The position requires the ability to manage within restrictive program time constraints.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Leads and motivates a team of specialists towards project and company goals.
· Develops, administers and improves project management processes to include risk, resource management, workload management, schedule management, and supplier management.
· Organizes teams to execute work statements, schedules and budgets.
· Administers the supplier integration process and monitors same to ensure Airbus is obtaining best value for the cost expended and that program objectives are met. Negotiates work packages and deliveries with suppliers. Performs evaluation and fact finding analysis on supplier proposals. Monitors suppliers for achievement of task objectives. Coordinates supplier requirements with appropriate procurement specialists.
· Maintains control of deliverables with an understanding of issues that is preventing successful delivery of those deliverables.
· Responsible for monitoring the project control aspects of the company to include project scheduling, resource management, critical path and earned value.
· Responsible for project documentation through meeting minutes, action registers, drumbeats, risk registers.
· Responsible for project issue elevation through the Manager of Operations for resolution.
· Responsible to support development and maintenance of a detailed plan task database for use by the Project Coordination Group and Data Management Group in controlling their project plans.
· Responsible for communicating weekly project status to management.
· Responsible for carrying out other duties as assigned.
· Travel required 20%, some international, often for durations longer than 1 week.
Experience and Education Guidelines:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business or Management, or technical equivalent desired or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Minimum 10 -15 years industry experience in project coordination activities primarily associated with controlling the cost and schedule of an engineering design project.
· Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Project, Access, PowerPoint, Visio).
· Project Scheduling and Critical Path.
· Cost and Schedule Variance analysis methodologies
· Accounting and Financial tools, analysis and procedures
· Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
· Understanding of the basic principles of structural analysis methods, processes and deliverables.
· Ability to map and understand complex engineering processes, and to extract information from those processes to include timescales, enablers, deliverables and risk.
· Plan and control work projects in a complex and evolving environment.
· Learn and work within the defined company policies governing assigned duties.
· Interpret and tailor complex technical processes for local use.
· Operate with flexible and sometimes unclear job assignments.
· Integrate across functional boundaries including engineering and operations.
· Communicate reporting clearly in both oral and written fashion.
· Organize and conduct professional meetings.
· Ability to effectively present information to customers.
· Work within a flexible schedule, which will include early mornings, late evenings, occasional weekends, and occasional evening social events.
· Present a professional appearance as generally accepted in the business and aerospace environment.
· Establish and maintain professional relationships with a diverse work force.
· Ability to inter-relate with and motivate diverse teams.
