Sr Quality Engr.
1.0 Basic Function/Scope
Provide leadership or assistance in the work of other Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance personnel. Implement initial quality plans on products and programs. Provide support and direction in the implementation and administration of quality systems. Analyze the effectiveness of the quality system and coordinate quality related issues with customers, suppliers and other functional disciplines.
This position directly reports to Director Quality Assurance.
2.0 Education/Experience/Skills
2.1 Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education of education and experience.
2.2 Certificate from Quality Institution preferred, such as CQE, CQA.
2.3 Three to seven years Product/Manufacturing, Quality Engineering required. Two years experience in technical writing and/or implementation of quality specifications and procedures.
2.4 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
2.5 Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
2.6 Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
2.7 Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
2.8 Ability to define problems, collects data, established facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
2.9 Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
2.10 Knowledge of Quality and inspection systems and techniques including Statistical Control Methods and Corrective in Action system.
2.11 Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
2.12 Knowledge of SPC.
3.0 Essential Functions
3.1 Develop and establish quality system and procedures, inspection plans, quality performance trends, statistical plans and continuous improvement initiatives specific to assigned customers/product.
3.2 Perform Customer Purchase Order/Contract reviews to identify quality requirement for impact into the manufacturing system. Ensure that all documentation, Certification/Inspection reports, making, packaging, source inspection and applicable Supplier Source Releases are identifies and acceptable.
3.3 Review and maintain all assigned customer quality documents and specifications.
3.4 Interface and/or work closely with Quality Assurance, Inspection, Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Materials, Purchasing, and Shipping personnel on procedural issues involving design, methods, tooling, cost and other areas involved in the control of product quality.
3.5 Participate in the development and implementation of quality related policies and procedures based on corporate and government/customer requirements, as well as in conjunction with ISO 9001 requirements.
1.1 Participate in Material Review Board activities, failure analysis and corrective action investigations, and assist in the timely dispositioning and processing of nonconforming material.
1.2 Make recommendations to management or ISO/Continuous Improvement Steering Committee on the implementation of process improvements on assigned program(s) or product area(s).
1.3 Act as liaison for the company in coordinating and resolving customer and supplier complaints and concerns, relative to quality performance, investigations, system audits and corrective actions.
1.4 Prepare periodic and special reports on quality statistics and other related quality issues assigned program(s) or product area(s).
1.5 Coordinate customer source inspection and/or perform Designated Source Quality Representative functions for various customers, where applicable.
1.6 Review manufacturing planning (work order), methods and process specifications assist relates to assuring product quality.
1.7 Respond to customer Corrective Action Requests in a timely manner, by investigating and determining root cause and corrective/preventive measures to eliminate deficiencies. Coordinate team efforts to resolve issues and monitor trends.
1.8 Perform internal audits/surveys, where applicable, to assure compliance to specific quality/customer requirements.
1.9 Initiate Corrective Action Requests and monitor follow-up effective closure and elimination of identifies deficiencies.
1.10 Audit and validate SPC data and procedures for assigned program(s) or product area(s)
1.11 May supervise or direct the work of other Quality Assurance Personnel.
2.0 Other Duties and Responsibilities
2.1 Keep work area clean, safe and in orderly fashion on daily basis.
2.2 Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
2.3 Participate in proactive team effort to achieve departmental and company goals.
2.4 Perform other duties as assigned.
2.5 Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
3.0 Supervision and/or Direction Required
3.1 Do not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
3.2 May supervise in both their work assignments and performance development (appraisal).
3.3 Receive guidance with respect to general objectives; in the majority of tasks and projects assigned, determine methods, work sequence, scheduling, and how to achieve objectives of assignment; operate within specific policy guidelines.
3.4 Prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments.
4.0 Working Conditions
4.1 Comply with all safety policies, procedures and practices as it relates to office/production working environments i.e. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when entering production environment, etc…
4.2 Hearing protection is required in all area labeled “Heavy protection required”.
4.3 The indoor office setting is well lighted, with adequate ventilation and air-conditioned.
4.4 Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
4.5 Regulation work and hours – 5 days, 8 hours with overtime to meet the demand of job and meetings.
