Sr Radar Systems Engineer

Job Description: The Hughes Air Defense Radar Program (HADR) provides engineering support to their customers in Europe and Taiwan. This support includes providing spares, repairs, services and upgrades as needed by the customer. This engineer needed will be responsible for the following: Onsite engineering support for fielded ground-based radars. Lead a repair effort at Long Beach facility. Develop test capabilities and mentor junior engineers. Providing replacement parts (including obsolete parts) per original design specifications, often requiring redesign and custom manufacturing. Service life extension design activities. Represent RTSC as the prime technical contact at customer sites. Interface with HADR customers in Taiwan and Europe locations. Logistics support. Travel to Taiwan and Europe required several times per year. Trip duration is 1 to 2 weeks, with 3 or more weeks required occasionally. Some domestic travel is required. Required Skills: At least six (6) years experience in basic radar design and practical experience working on high power microwave systems (CW or Pulsed). Experience managing or leading groups. Experience at operating test equipment for testing and troubleshooting microwave systems. Strong digital and signal processing skills. Excellent communication skills and experience in technical report writing using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project. Must be able to read Mil-spec, military drawings and vendor specifications. Willing and able to travel internationally several times per year for extended periods of time (if needed). Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Desired Skills: Systems engineering experience on HADR / military radar. Prior training or Instructor experience is desirable. Experience with Unix/VX Works is a plus. Required Education (including Major): B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field is required or equivalent combination of experience, training and education.
