Job Description: Members of the Missile Defense Systems Engineering Team (MDSET) develop the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Integration Strategy for the Missile Defense Agency. This position supports the agency’s (DEED) Design and Specification directorate which is responsible for the detailed design and specification of the BMDS. Major activities within DEED include capabilities engineering, architecture engineering, trade studies, specifications, specialty engineering, and standards. The BMDS technical baseline is established via the Systems Capability Specification and a family of Interface Control Specifications. System Engineer, responsible for development of Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Interface Specification. Responsible for coordinating, writing, developing Interface Control Documents. Knowledge of sensors, weapons, battle management, and communications networks. Strong focus on development of Information Requirements across multiple mediums to multiple subsystems. Broad knowledge of engineering design and life cycle support requirements. Must have good writing, communication and collaboration skills to develop Interface Control Document, conflict resolution issues, and gain consensus among disparate subsystems. Military operational background and knowledge of BMDS subsystems is highly desired. Candidate will create interface control document, support engineering design architecture and manage requirements allocation, and flow-down. Will develop strong relationship with representatives from throughout the BMD System. Basic Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of 10 years experience in an engineering classification, with strong experience interface design. Shall have a strong Systems Engineering background in fielding new systems. Strong writing, coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities. System engineering experience on large scale integration program. Desired Qualifications: Experience with BMDS, such as Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), Patriot PAC-3, Airborne Laser (ABL), Sea-Based Missile Defense (SMD), X-Band Radar (XBR), or other major DOD weapon system. Experience as an IPT/study group lead or operational staff or commercial equivalent. Experience with writing specifications or standards. Experience in Interface description and Information Requirements Tools (System Architect). Military experience and experience DoDAF. Required Education (including Major): BS with MS (optional) in the applicable Engineering Sciences.
