Structural Analyst
Description
Perform structural analysis and support as part of multi-disciplined teams in support of NASA Glenn Research Center projects. Work closely with other engineering and support disciplines in the design, development, and verification of aerospace hardware and systems. Duties include generating concepts, performing finite element analysis and fracture analysis, calculation of margins of safety and written analysis reports.
Education/Experience/Requirements
A minimum of two years of experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for stress analysis is required. The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical abilities as well as excellent written and oral communications skills. The candidate must be able to to interpret mechanical drawings and interact in a team environment. The position requires a minimum of a BSME. In addition to stress analysis, experience modeling rigid and flexible body dynamics is desired. Experience using NASTRAN and FEMAP would be highly beneficial. Experience with the following would also be a plus: fastener calculations, NASGRO, use of aerospace materials, MATLAB, and Pro-E.
