Summary Statement: Administers and executes policies and procedures that affect individual Employees engaged in applying the principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems. Develops and provides leadership to institutionalize the processes of Continuous Quality Improvement in accordance with organization goals and objectives. Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities: Provides direction to subordinates using established policies and procedures. Handles unusual or difficult inquiries or situations through direct personal action or refers to the appropriate individual. Assignments are received in task oriented terms. Work is reviewed for adherence to cost, schedule and quality requirements and soundness of judgment, results achieved and efficiency. Oversees compilation of periodic and special statements on unit cost to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. Analyzes data obtained, records results and report to management. Reviews the analysis of the changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs. Reviews and/or approves estimates of new and proposed product or service costs. Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs. Investigates costs that appear inconsistent with previous experience. Prepares cost accounting and operating reports. Assigns, monitors and reviews the progress and accuracy of assigned work. Ensures the consistent application of organization policies. Monitors the effectiveness of systems, policies and procedures and makes appropriate recommendations to ensure daily operations are efficient; implements approved changes. Estimates personnel needs and ensures adequate staffing in order to meet preestablished completion dates. Ensures budgetary compliance.QualificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS: Formal Education, Training, Licenses and Work Experience: Bachelor level degree in Accounting and eight (8) to ten (10) years experience, two (2) of which must be in a leadership position. Competent in the processes and procedures for the area over which supervision is exercised or equivalent combination of education and experience. Number of Employees Managed: Directly supervises 1 to 3 Office, Technical, Professional or Salaried Employees. Special Job Requirements, Skills, Tools and Equipment: Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties. Perform work of subordinates. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms. Sound working knowledge of computer systems and applications and competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and make formal presentations to small or large groups.
