Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc., is the prime contractor for NASA at the White Sands Complex near Las Cruces, New Mexico.  Operating here are two functionally identical satellite ground terminals: the White Sands Ground Terminal Upgrade, and the second TDRSS Ground Terminal. These two terminals ensure uninterrupted communications between various ground stations, NASA’s orbiting fleet of Tracking and Data Relay satellites, customer spacecraft (satellites), and the computer systems that support such spacecraft. The WSC also serves as an interface for distributing satellite data to control centers and scientists who then use the daily influx of data to expand our ever growing knowledge of the Earth and the universe.

 

Reporting to the Hardware Engineering Organization at the White Sands Complex, candidates will be required to lead complex projects from requirements definition to implementation and test. This includes generation of performance and requirements specifications based on high level customer statements of work, allocation of these requirements, design and/or analysis of subsystem interfaces, specifying hardware requirements, working with software engineers on ensuring requirements are fully understood/implemented and supporting/leading integration and test efforts. Conducts special studies and investigations related to project activities and recommends changes as appropriate to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and meet changed or new requirements.

 

Candidate will perform/lead integration of system/software products and support proposal efforts for new tasks. This will include generation of basis of estimates (BOE's), generation of high level implementation plans, assisting in the generation of project schedules, and general proposal level support.

 

Candidate will provide technical leadership/oversight to less experienced personnel and will be involved in daily troubleshooting of operational problems and analysis/resolution of system discrepancies. Candidate may support daily customer meetings and may be involved in the generation of weekly/monthly status reports which track progress to project milestones. Candidate will ensure that all designs and processes used are in compliance with standard local operating procedures.

Serves as organizational consultant; leads multi-discipline or cross-functional team(s).

Basic Qualifications:



 

Systems Engineer 4: BS degree in engineering or applied science with at least 8 years of related experience. In lieu of formal education, 16 years of directly related work experience.

Systems Engineer 5:BS degree in an engineering discipline with at least 13 years of related experience, or equivalent engineering license/certification.

 

Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.

 

Additional Qualifications: 

 

Experience in:Satellite communications including link budget analysis, modulation and demodulation techniques and theory. Space communications systemsModems, networks, and ground communicaitonRequirements Analysis & AllocationProcess improvementSystems testing, testing procedure development, & test planning Test Reports Analysis 

Ability to lead a team of 3-5 employees.

 

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance is required for continued employment.
