Systems Engineer 5, JTRS WNW Networking Position Description The selected candidate will become a team member of the Wideband Networking Waveform (WNW) IPT on the Joint Tactical Radio Systems (JTRS) Ground Mobile Radios program developing the next generation radio system for the US Military and integrating various legacy systems into the WNW. Selected candidate will work closely with the WNW IPT technical lead to gain an understanding of the WNW architecture, design and performance as it relates to the planning and operations interface of the WNW to the operating environment, radio platforms and network managers. Selected candidate will, with time, be expected to become a recognized, relevant WNW/Networking expert in company, teammate and customer circles. Candidate will be responsible for supporting the design development, documentation, integration, test and delivery of the WNW. The selected candidate will provide technical leadership in network communication systems, lead the definition of system architecture and perform technical analysis/evaluation of large military network communication systems. Evaluate, recommend and develop system requirements, architecture and alternatives for military wireless and wireline networks. Ability to work in a multi-contractor, Boeing led, team environment, coordinating activities within the WNW IPT and across program IPTs (Software, Test & Evaluation and Systems Engineering.) In depth knowledge of Systems Engineering, Software Development and Integration is required. Significant experience in Systems Engineering of large systems comprised of many software configuration items (including development and analysis of interface requirements and details) is required. Experience managing day-to-day schedules and activities of systems engineering, software development and integration engineers is required. Candidate will be an active participant in customer briefings, internal team and management meetings/briefings (status, technical performance, cost/schedule performance). Selected candidate must have a current DoD Secret Security Clearance - US Citizenship is required. End-to-end knowledge of network transport technologies, systems, environments, services, protocols, performance monitoring and diagnostic analysis. [ + ] System Integration/Design Advanced, expert ability to build computing systems from a variety of components to provide a business solution, including the ability to integrate application components and databases across computing platforms. [ + ] Systems Design Engr Principles Advanced, expert knowledge of systems design and scientific principles to develop, design, analyze, test, and validate solutions for complex systems and sub-systems. Education and/or Experience Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 14 to 19 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 12 to 17 years experience or a PhD degree with 9 to 14 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Other Job related information Strong experience and background in the following areas is desired: Communication, network, wireless, risk management, queuing, IP, Mobile or Ad-Hoc or MANET, Information Assurance, radio, routing, QoS, DOORS, security architecture. The position requires strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities along with horizontal integration skills. An understanding of specification trees and the requirements flow down process is required. A familiarity with DOORS database management system is preferred. Experience with military tactical radio systems is preferred. Experience in networking, especially in routing, QoS, and queuing theory, is preferred. A background in security architecture/Information Assurance is also preferred. Familiarity with risk management procedures and associated tools is required. Strong skills in development, maintenance and assessment of systems, software development and integration schedules are required. Active Secret clearance is required. Travel may be required to interface with customers and teammates.
