Systems Engineer Support Analyst 4 - GMD Program Position Description Researches, analyzes, and compiles complex technical data for company products and system-level concepts in the projected operational environments to optimize effectiveness over the program lifecycle. Applies complex systems engineering processes, methodologies and tools to the design of system of systems, systems and new product development. Derives and develops complex architectures, functional requirements, refinements and product designs. Assists in the integration of technical, cost, value, risks and specialty engineering considerations into definition of the product. Interfaces with other members of the project or program teams, management, sales and marketing staff, customers and suppliers to meet group, organization and company objectives. Performs technical planning and control; maintains and improves processes and software tools. Oversees training, leads and mentors others. Works under minimal direction. Identifies potential conditions that contribute to gaps or key variances; explores complex relationships between conditions and effects; distinguishes causes from symptoms and identifies primary causes. Consistently and proactively generates ideas for solutions; analyzes the effect or impact of each solution; selects appropriate solutions; tests solutions; and gathers feedback from fellow project leads, internal employees and external customers on effectiveness. Reviews impact on baseline measures and modifies solutions as appropriate to ensure effectiveness. [ + ] Planning And Organizing Identifies more critical and less critical activities and assignments; adjusts priorities when appropriate. Proactively determines project or assignment requirements by breaking them down into tasks and identifying types of equipment, materials, and people needed. Effectively allocates appropriate amounts of time for completing own work; avoids scheduling conflicts. Is an expert at taking advantage of available resources (individuals, processes, departments, and tools) to complete work efficiently; coordinates with internal and external partners. Uses time effectively and prevents irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with work completion. Formulates change strategies; frequently seeks input from other project leads and internal employees to evaluate options for change and encourage buy-in. Uses extensive measurement systems to monitor the implementation.Technical [ + ] Engineering Processes Extensive and specialized knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics). Extensive and specialized knowledge of the interaction between departments/ disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g., Operations, Logistics, Business). [ + ] Product Knowledge Extensive knowledge of product/service value stream. [ + ] Tech Risk Mgmt & Perf Measure Extensive working knowledge of the methodology and processes associated with risk management, conducting trade studies including cost as an independent variable (CAIV) trades. Ability to: Identify and quantity potential risks areas within specific (depth) and across multiple engineering disciplines (breadth), understand design constraints (technical, cost & schedule), identify and trade alternatives (i.e., trade studies), select/recommend the best plan for mitigating risks, implement/execute plans for mitigating risk and establish appropriate performance tracking metrics to track risk burndown over time. Ability to effectively utilize risk management tools (iso-risk charts/plots, waterfall, etc) to support program/project execution. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree and typically 9 to 13 years' related work experience or a Master's degree with 7 to 11 years' related work experience or a PhD degree with 4 to 8 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other Job related information Prefer candidate to be familiar with Boeing processes and tools such as Alert Capability Assessment (ACA), GMD Nonconformance Tracking System (GNTS), Change Request Sheet (CRS), Test Incident Report (TIR), Nonconformance Report (NCR) & Management Emphasis Tracking (MET) system.
