TOOL / PRODUCT DESIGN ENGINEER

Design and create detailed drawings for product development and production tooling that may contain pyrotechnic materials. Tool types include holding fixtures, assembly aids, semi-automated tooling and equipment using pneumatic components, gages, reverse engineering, etc.
•Create detail/assembly models/drawings for specific projects.
•Ensure all drawings adhere to company and ASME Y14.5M and MIL standards.
•Analyze assembly and detail drawings for proper form, fit and function.
•Resolve design problems.
•Complete documents and accurately file all models and drawings per company standards.
•Process Engineering Change Orders in accordance with company standard.
•Interface with Project and Analytical Engineers during design process to assure that each part/assembly meets the project requirements.
•Participate with the development and maintenance of various CAD systems’ operating procedures.

Required Education/Experience
•B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and two years experience in product design and/or mechanical assembly design. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of four year degree.
•Tool design experience.
•Machining knowledge and/or machine shop experience.
•Experience with solid modeling CAD software.
•Experience using mathematical concepts in performing tolerance stack ups and analysis, weighs, volumes, center of gravity etc.

Preferred Education/Experience
•Knowledge and experience using ASME 14.100 including Y14.5M.
•Experience working with metals, plastics and composites.
