Technical Systems Lead (DPHM)

Pratt & Whitney's Systems Analysis and Aerodynamics organization seeks a dynamic, self-starting candidate with strong technical expertise as well as Systems engineering experience to provide technical leadership in the area of Diagnostics, Prognostics, and Health Management for propulsion systems.

The responsible engineer will provide technical support and leadership for all PW existing engine programs and new business development efforts.

The emphasis is on complete system designs that link on-engine capabilities, including leveraging existing control sensors and dedicated diagnostic sensors, with (off-board or ground based) processing that brings definable benefit to a range of customers.

The candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills which are critical to working in a team environment with other Pratt & Whitney organizations. In addition, the candidate will be expected to interact with the customer (both commercial and military) as well as suppliers on a regular basis, taking a lead role during technical discussions and formal coordination meetings.

Responsibilities will include:
-Managing technical aspects of the project including plans and progress as measured by earned value.
-Working with cross-functional teams to derive system-level requirements and system design concepts. Conducting trade studies and cost-benefit analyses for various diagnostic capabilities. Developing optimized diagnostic system architecture.
-Defining test plans and monitoring results to ensure requirements are met.
-Making presentations to customers, project review teams, and upper management.




Bachelor's degree in Engineering. MS preferred.

Degrees in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics with all the relevant experience will also be considered.









-Minimum of 5 years as a technical manager on sizeable projects with a proven record of planning and managing all technical aspects. Total work experience of at least 8 years.

-Experience in sensors, on-board systems and analytical techniques such as sensor and system modeling, model-based diagnostics, etc.

-Expertise in collaborative tools within MS Office including MS Project.

-Experience with Matlab




The following will enhance the candidacy:

-Experience with engine controls, diagnostic or PHM systems, and aircraft avionic systems is preferred
-Familiarity with software development process.
-Experience in the engine service (MRO) industry, field support, aftermarket supply chain, etc.
-Aerospace industry experience, and particularly aircraft engine experience.
