UNIX Enterprise Server Administrator

Currently, we seek a well experienced UNIX Enterprise Server Administrator.

Essential Functions: Candidate will provide hands-on support for the design, configuration, and deployment of a variety of information technologies in the UNIX operating environment. Specifically, candidates will deploy monitoring and management tools for production systems; support engineering and integration of the server environment, support backup/recovery administration, server consolidation, centralization and configuration management implementation, support the automated installation and upgrade of operating system patches and security integration. Responsible for performance and availability for a wide variety of UNIX Enterprise server systems. Provide all other System Administration duties as required.

Knowledge & Skills: Sun SOLARIS/Sun Fire hardware, plus NAS/SAN or Veritas File Manager or Volumn Manager a must; The candidate must be able to diagnose and correct UNIX server problems; experience installing and configuring application software in a highly distributed and heterogeneous client/server environment; knowledge of backup/recovery methods, export/import and data migration procedures, applications, database and web server software installation; detailed knowledge of the installation, configuration and performance tuning of the Sun Solaris UNIX operating system environment. Networking TCP/IP, DNS/NIS Network services support, Sun Enterprise Server, Sun Solstice, scripting and programming experience using UNIX Korn, Bourne and/or "C" a required. Experience with cluster server environment, server administration with database (ORACLE, Sybase), and or application support and Web hosting a preferred.

Must be able to perform daily Unix administration, perform complex technical analysis; work effectively as part of a team; as well as communicate effectively with team members, managers and Government personnel.

Additional Knowledge & Skills for SANs: Ability to work with Flexible Storage Architecture is required. Demonstrated and proficient WINDOWS NT/2000 and/or UNIX Solaris Operating Systems skills; Mass storage and disk array experience, demonstrated experience and proficiency with other storage disk array configuration and implementations for SANs, will be considered. Multipathing software experience preferred, with experience in secure path preferred. Experience with load balancing, fail-over, I/O, performance tuning and Enterprise Server level backup software and hardware experience is recommended.  Experience with load balancing, fail-over, I/O, performance tuning and Enterprise Server level backup software and hardware experience is recommended.

Education/Experience:-- BS and 5 years or High School and 7 years.
