Ultrasonic Level II Tech/NDT Inspector

Company founded in 1947 that fabricates open die forgings, seamless rings, and impression die forgings is seeking an Experienced Ultrasonic Level II Inspector
The company primarily serves the aerospace and commercial industries with products such as bulkheads, disks, engine mounts, landing gear structures, and shafts.

Job Summary:

Conducts ultrasonic tests on fabricated metallic and nonmetallic parts and products to identify discontinuities by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reviews work orders, test procedure sheets, and product acceptance criteria to determine test specifications.

Prepares techniques and scan plans.

Attaches specified crystal probe transducer to ultrasound test device and moves switch to actuate device.

Calibrates and adjusts ultrasonic test equipment to required standards and settings.

Sprays couplant (light oil which acts as medium) or other liquid over part to be tested, moves transducer over part to be tested, and observes CRT screen to detect patterns of discontinuity such as cracks, inclusions, bonding defects, or porosity.

Marks defective areas of part or product and prepares report of test findings, technique and worksheets.

Sets up and operates computerized inspection equipment.

Compiles daily production reports for all hours worked, cross referencing those hours to production jobs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 1

Ability to use ultrasonic testing scope and crystal, manipulator and bridge tanks, ring roller tank, surface roughness gauge. Ability to read, understand and comply with test standards.
