Qualifications:

 

· Strong Solaris (8, 9 and 10) operating systems knowledge. 

· Experience working in large/enterprise environment.

· A conceptual understanding of Internet Facing systems is also highly desirable. 

· Also, candidates must have a high level of motivation and initiative.

 

 

 

The responsibilities will require having very thorough knowledge of Solaris O/S’s and server technologies, Veritas (or equivalent, i.e. Legato), Storage knowledge in any capacity (SAN), and experience working with an Oracle Database.

 

Any and all candidates MUST have exceptional communication and presentation, as this position requires interaction across several different internal business units.

 

The manager wants someone who will look for work upon completing a task, not someone who will wait to be told what to do next.

 

 

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

 

The primary focus for this position will be to handle day to day support issues on the Solaris technologies inside the Data Center, which they are planning to relocate.  This includes but is not limited to server builds, application moves, refreshes and renewals, basic disaster recovery, and other typical administrative duties.

 

This position will report to MH Education Sr. Systems Manager/Engineer.

 

**Shift:  M-F, 9-5.  Upon commencement of the actual move, off hours and/or weekend work will likely be required.  This will still be a 40 hour work week in both situations.

 

Describe the Technical Environment:

 

The environment is vastly Solaris based, with some Linux and HP-UX boxes as well.  They use Dell and HP Hardware
