Unix Systems Administrator - Mid-Sr Level

Job Description: Unix Systems Administrator (Full-time position)



21st Century Technologies is looking for a systems administrator to join our development team in a full time position. Success in this role will introduce additional responsibilities and opportunities for advancement.




 

Minimum/General Experience: Three years of related experience in one or more of the following areas:

•  Systems hardware (e.g., firewalls, uninterruptible power supplies, web servers, application servers, database servers, and disk and tape libraries).
•  Operating system administration (e.g., UNIX, Linux, and Windows 200X).
•  Browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator).
•  Software Web, application, and database servers.
•  Data center, network, and application architectures.
•  Various production environments.
•  Ability to upgrade the software and hardware components.
•  Proven ability to manage major server related failures and outages to resolution.
•  Able to write purchase justifications for system hardware and software.
•  Able to train users in complex topics.
•  Able to make presentations to an internal audience
•  Able to interact positively with upper management.
•  Able to identify tasks which require automation and then automate them.

Functional Responsibility:  Responsible for maintaining production-level application and functional severs at a high operational availability. Performs installations, upgrades, patches and other required changes to all datacenter environments.

 

Required Skills:

• Must be a United States citizen

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience

• Seeking candidate with 4+ years experience in system administration.

• MCSE is a plus, experience with DoD networks is a plus.

• Excellent oral skills, project planning, and ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new technologies is desired.
